Does my client data leave my computer through Veiltag?
Files are processed on your computer during the Veiltag review step. Veiltag doesn't send your files to AI tools — sharing the reviewed file is your step.
Which AI tools does Veiltag work with today?
Any of them. Veiltag is a macOS desktop app, so it isn't tied to a specific AI tool. You review and replace what you need to in Veiltag, then share the reviewed file with whichever AI tool you use — Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or another.
Can AI still analyse the file after Veiltag swaps things?
Yes. Veiltag preserves the file's structure and context, so AI tools can still work with it after the identifiers you approved have been swapped.
Who is Veiltag for?
We started with UK accountants, bookkeepers and finance teams — they handle some of the most sensitive client data day-to-day. But anyone who's hesitated before pasting a file into an AI tool can use Veiltag.
Should I use the beta on real client files yet?
No — please test with synthetic or non-client data first. The product is still under active development.
Does Veiltag catch every sensitive value?
You see and approve every change, so nothing is swapped without you. Veiltag highlights common identifier patterns and shows you each one for confirmation — but it won't catch everything, and that's deliberate. It doesn't make compliance decisions for you, and it isn't a substitute for your own review of a file before sharing.
Is Veiltag a substitute for my own compliance process?
Veiltag is there to assist your review and make it faster — it puts the flagged values in front of you so you can decide. It isn't a substitute for your compliance process: you remain responsible for any decisions about sharing client information.
